Wonderful information! My situation with my just turned 7 yo son is different yet I feel Kathy’s advice can be very helpful as I ‘m not sure I’m applying the tools correctly. My son is also not interested in special time with me so I just start sort of unannounced play like pillow fights or doge ball to try and get some giggles out of him. He joins in and enjoys the games very much but following that he never has a melt down and so I don’t know if I’m doing it right. But I will begin focusing more on beaming my love to him and see if that helps. I feel the same way as Chelsey about ADHD and I’m looking for an alternative with the listening tools.
Cheleey, you are an amazingly loving mom even after all the difficulties you’ve endured. I believe this is the right place to find the healing and happiness that we and our families deserve. The challenge can be so exhausting we may feel like giving up but our love for our kids is stronger and will carry us through to success. Warm hughs!
