There are two areas you need to consider to charge appropriately for your services, the value proposition and the pricing structure. The value proposition, the way you talk about and help parents understand the value you bring to them, includes the fact that you deliver a unique service that can bring them emotional and behavioral results that no other parenting education provides. Hand in Hand Parenting is the only parent training focused on the emotional health and support of the parent and the only one that shares insight about emotional healing and growth that so much of interpersonal neurobiology talks about as vital to children today. There is no one else delivering this crucial help to parents. And, you are building a relationship with parents that continues and grows with them thru their parenting career. Every interaction you have with parents is an invitation to further connection and discovery of ways they can let go of past hurts and become happier, better connected leaders of their family.
Pricing, on the other hand, is what you choose to be paid for your services. You need to take into account what your competition charges and what effect the current economic climate is having in your market. Very generally speaking your prices should be just above what other local parenting classes of the same time commitment charge. You provide a service that reaches above and beyond the typical parenting class and even if the difference is small, it’s consistent with your value proposition to charge a bit more for providing something extra. This is how the Hand in Hand pricing for Building Emotional Understanding classes was determined. If you elect to use a sliding scale to accept payments, you want your ideal price to be positioned toward the middle of the scale.
Please refer to your Instructor Handbook for the latest updates and details around pricing.
Current Hand in Hand fees are listed in the Instructor Hub.
You are welcome to charge more for these classes if it’s appropriate for your market.
Bursary or Scholarship
If, #1. you are the only Certified Hand in Hand instructor in your area and, #2. you do not want your class promoted in Hand in Hand communications, you can charge less for these classes with the understanding that they will not be promoted to other Hand in Hand markets. (Say you wanted to offer a Starter Class for $40 per parent at the local family shelter. We fully encourage this kind of work, but don’t want to confuse our core audience on our pricing.)
If you decide that you would like to offer a certain percentage of your class seats on a pay-what-you-can, bursary, or scholarship basis, you might begin with one low-cost or no-cost class seat for each ten seats you are able to fill at full price or something similar.
You are always welcome to refer scholarship applicants to Hand in Hand online classes. We raise donations specifically so that we can accommodate parents in need and will be happy to serve them.
